On Monday December 18th, members recognized Deputy Chief Rick Schartel for his 50 years of service!

Deputy Chief Schartel joined the West Lawn Fire Company in 1973. Throughout the years, Chief Schartel held multiple positions in the West Lawn Fire Company up to the position of Chief.

In 2002, the West Lawn Fire Company merged with the West Wyomissing, Lincoln Park and Vinemont Fire Companies to form what is now the Township of Spring Fire Rescue. After the merger, Chief Schartel became a Deputy Chief in the Township of Spring Fire Rescue. With his years of service in the West Lawn Fire Company and the TSFR, Chief Schartel has been volunteering to help his community for a total of 50 years in the Spring Township area!
