Our Monday night drill on Monday July 15 featured the use of our rescue air bags. Rescue 85 carries a complement of both high- and low-pressure bags, while Rescue Engine 85 carries a set of high-pressure bags.
High-pressure bags are the more common and are designed for high pressure, high capacity, but low elevation lifting. Low pressure bags on the other hand utilize a lower pressure but provide a much higher lifting elevation. Both styles are supplied by compressed air which can be supplied by our SCBA style cylinders and fixed compressed air supplies.
When air bags are utilized, it is necessary to employ cribbing to protect the lift. This incorporated the cribbing skills practiced in our drill from last Monday night. |
