Tuesday April 29, 2025, marked the end of an era as Technician Gary Riegle marked his last shift with TSFR. His tenure spanned 46 years starting as a volunteer with the legacy West Wyomissing Fire Company. He rose thru the ranks to become a chief officer and then the first full time driver. As West Wyomissing merged into the Twp of Spring Fire Rescue Service, Gary morphed into one of the first three full time employees.

His wife and coworkers conspired to pull off a surprise luncheon at the station while Gary was in the field on a set up detail, checking on the condition of several water supply cisterns in the Township.

Friends and family, comrades from years gone by, all stopped by to wish him well and congratulate him on a career well spent. There were hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, gifts, presentations and probably an occasional, discreet, but unashamed tear.

Finally, we have it on good authority that all cisterns were properly inspected and conditions documented prior to his departure.

Well done brother. You will be missed.
