Clear Snow Away From Utilities & Exhaust Pipes! |
| January 22, 2026 | |
| With the possibility of high snowfall amounts in our area this weekend, we would like to urge everyone to keep your heater vents, dryer vents, natural gas meters and hot water vents clear from snow. If these vents become blocked or obscured by snow, it could lead to carbon monoxide or gases backing up into your home due to them not being vented properly to the outside. PREVENT CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING: When warming a vehicle, move it out of the garage. Do not run a fueled engine indoors, even if garage doors are open. During and after a snowstorm, make sure vents for the dryer, furnace, stove and fireplace are clear of snow build-up. A generator should be used outdoors. Use in a well-ventilated location away from windows, doors, and vent openings. Have heating equipment and chimneys inspected by a professional every year before cold weather sets in. Open the damper when using a fireplace for adequate ventilation. Never use your oven or stove to heat your home. |
