Household Hazardous Waste Event ---April 11

You'd be surprised at the amount and nature of the many hazardous chemicals in your house right now. They present a hazard not only to you and your family if they get loose, but also to emergency responders in the event of a fire or other emergency. These include chemicals such as herbicides, insecticides, flammable gases, combustible liquids such as old paints, thinners and fuels. If there is a CAUTION label somewhere on the packaging, there's a pretty good chance that the stuff inside is dangerous, especially if it mixes with the other materials around it. Places to look include basements, garages, sheds, and under sinks.

If you would like to get rid of this nasty stuff...the Berks County Solid Waste Authority is sponsoring the first of two 2026 Household Hazardous Waste Collection events on April 11 at the Governor Mifflin Intermediate School located on Governor Drive in Shillington.

Here's the kicker....you must have a reservation...to register go to the Solid Waste Authority web site at https://www.berkspa.gov/departments/solid-waste-authority

So, save the date.

Thanks.
