In the late morning of Friday August 20, a structure fire assignment was sent to Miller Road in the southern portion of Spring Twp for a possible house fire reported in the kitchen. TSFR Engine 85 and WFD Ladder 79 were notified by radio while returning from another alarm and responded immediately. Mohnton Asst. 57 arrived on location with smoke banked to the first floor and initially assumed command. E85 then arrived on location and confirmed 2 story single family dwelling with smoke showing from the peak of the roof. All occupants were reported out of the dwelling.

Captain 85 completed a 360 and assisted E85's crew with stretching a 200' 2" hoseline through the front door where crews found the fire located in the kitchen area. L79 located on the front and placed the aerial ladder main to the roof. The crew entered the building and assisted with opening the ceiling and walls to check for extension. Mutual aid companies assisted with primary and secondary searches and utility control. WBFD E18-1 stretched an additional back up hose line to the front. L18 staged on Gelsinger Rd.

Command passed to Western Berks Fire FC18 and then to TSFR Deputy 85. Mohnton E57, Shillington E36, and Western Berks Fire E18-1 prepared to provide nurse water to E85 until TN18 arrived to provide further water supply. An additional engine company was special called to stand by a nearby pond in case a more substantial water supply was required. TSFR Fire Marshal FM43 also responded.

The fire was placed under control and turned over to FM43 for investigation. Units took up and returned as equipment and personnel were secured.
