| TSFR with the support of with our friends at the Spring Township Libraries and Parks and Recreation Department, hosted a second Library Day at Station 85 for approximately 125 children and adults on Tuesday June 9. As has been our practice the event included two book readings and crafts provided by the Library in our training room, both featuring our Township librarians. The families were then able to interact with our firefighters, tour the station and even sit in a fire truck. The station was open for tour and hands on events including a kiddie firefighter obstacle course that allowed the kids to carry and pull a hose, pretend to drag a firefighter, chop wood with a plastic axe, ladder a pretend building and finally extinguish a pretend fire with a garden hose. Attendees were also able to use a digital fire extinguisher simulator and practice dialing 911 on our 911 simulator. All hands-on activities were supervised by TSFR volunteer and career staff. And of course there were coloring books, crayons, pencils, pens, pads and plastic fire helmets for all. |
