June 29, 2026 marks the 15-year anniversary of something painful that deeply affected our organization and its members. On June 29, 2011 Berks County K9 Deputy Sheriff Kyle Pagerly was mortally wounded in a gunfire exchange between a wanted fugitive and a Warrant Task Force involving Berks County Sheriffs personnel and the US Marshal Service.

Deputy Pagerly was a charter member of the Township of Spring Volunteer Fire Dept as TSFRS was known in those days, and was serving as a volunteer Lieutenant. His memory is immortalized in the retirement of his gear, which is mounted and hung over his gear rack location, and a tree planted outside our Training Room in front of our station. Vistors to the station are always encouraged to view both locations.

Our sympathy was, is and always will be, with Kyle's family, friends and colleagues on this solemn date.

Please join us in remembering him and his sacrifice.
