| TSFRS Rescue 85 and Fire Police responded to assist West Reading FD Company 64, Western Berks EMS and Reading FD Rescue 1 on Rte. 422 at the Penn Street Bridge in West Reading Boro in the early evening of Monday July 6 for a vehicle crash reported to be with entrapment. While R85 was enroute, Western Berks EMS Medic 6521 arrived and confirmed injuries with heavy entrapment.
Once on location, crews found one occupied vehicle with one victim entrapped and another in the back seat with the door open. Members worked with the other companies to remove a front door, rear door, B post and roof to provide improved patient access. In addition, a slight dashboard lift was performed using powered rams and the seat back was cut with a power cutter.
The entrapped patient was successfully removed after 15-20 minutes of intense activity in the hot July weather. Once all equipment was secured, R85 was placed available while Fire Police continued assisting local police with the highway closure |
