On Sunday night November 27, TSFRS and Wyo FD units, along with our mutual aid partners from Shillington (Sta 36), Western Berks FD (Sta 18), Mohnton (Sta 57), Mt. Penn RIT (Sta 1), and Western Berks EMS were summoned to a house fire on Wyoming Drive in Spring Twp. The report was for a fire in a garage.

Companies arrived on location and initially stretched a hose line to the interior to check for extension while the garage doors were being forced. Hoseline personnel discovered a car burning inside the garage and quickly applied water from inside. When the doors were forced the hose was repositioned the exterior and the fire knocked down. Additional personnel searched the home for occupants but all had successfully evacuated prior to FD arrival.

Units the vented the smoke and ensured that the fire had not extended beyond the garage. The car was eventually removed by a tow company. Units operated on location for approximately 3 hours.

The successful conclusion was made possible by fire rated construction of the garage and closed doors that held the fire in check. This permitted prompt extinguishment, following prompt notification by the occupants. The Spring Township Fire Marshal handled the subsequent investigation. Station 85 was staffed by additional TSFR career and volunteer personnel during the event.
