A vehicle fire was reported at the intersection of Harrison Ave and McKinley Ave in the West Wyomissing section of Spring Township, on Thursday morning September 3. TSFRS Rescue Engine 85, Western Berks FD Engine 18-2 and Wyomissing Ladder 79 were dispatched. Engine 85 was returning from a mutual aid fire alarm and responded to this call in place of the Rescue Engine. Ladder 18 responded in place of Engine 18-2. Tanker 85 also responded.

Chief 85 arrived on scene with a vehicle parked along the curb with smoke and fire showing from the engine compartment. He reported a working fire with no exposures, and established McKinley Avenue Command. E85 arrived and stretched their 1-3/4' bumper hose line and immediately attacked the fire achieving knock down in short order after which the assignment was reduced to Station 85. Members then deployed oil dry to prevent the hose stream water runoff from entering a nearby storm sewer. Engine compartment temperature was monitored to ensure extinguishment.

After the fire was overhauled, E85 and TN85 took up and returned while the Township Fire Marshal's office and Chief obtained information.
