| We've said it before, but most people don't appreciate the amount and nature of the many hazardous chemicals in their homes. This stuff presents dangers not only to you and your family if they get loose, but also to emergency responders in the event of a fire or other emergency. These include chemicals such as herbicides, insecticides, flammable gases, combustible liquids such as old paints, thinners and fuels. If there is a CAUTION label somewhere on the packaging, there's a pretty good chance that the stuff inside is dangerous, especially if it mixes with the other materials around it. If you aren't using it and would like to get rid of this nasty stuff...the Berks County Solid Waste Authority is sponsoring the second of two 2026 Household Hazardous Waste Collection events on Saturday October 14 at the Berks County Agricultural Center on County Road in Bern Twp. from 8 AM to noon.
