A report of black smoke from a chimney resulted in a structure fire assignment being dispatched to a home on Mayfair Drive in the Wyomissing Hills section of Wyomissing Boro on Friday evening Jan. 6. TSFR and Wyo FD responded along with our mutual aid partners. Ladder 79 arrived on location and reported nothing evident and began to investigate. Deputy 85 arrived and assumed command while Engine 85 positioned to provide hose line coverage. All other units were advised to stage on side streets and stand by and were promptly recalled by command.

L79 removed the contents of the fire box and positioned the aerial to the roof to check the condition of the flue and chimney. E85 checked for signs of fire or smoke in around the flue. No fire or smoke was detected, and the property was soon turned back over to the occupant.
