An attempt to dispose of a hornet nest accidentally resulted in the ignition of a tree on Chapel Hill Road in southern Spring Twp on Wednesday night November 8. Units had just wrapped up another response when this call was received. TSFR Engine 85 and Wyo FD Ladder 79, along with mutual aid partners from Cumru Twp and Adamstown responded.

Units arrived to observe the homeowner applying water to the fire via a garden hose. Members took over the operation, cutting into the tree to apply water and Class A foam to reach the deep-seated smoldering material, guided by readouts from a thermal imaging camera. After the fire was extinguished, all units were placed available and returned.
