Early Saturday evening May 17, TSFR was dispatched to the 300 block of Texter Mtn Road in neighboring South Heidelberg Twp to assist Western Berks FD on a reported structure fire. The fire was initially reported as a humidifier burning and Rescue Engine 85 responded accordingly. SHTPD arrived and reported smoke showing from the basement.

WBFD Engine 18-1 arrived on location and was directed to pull an attack line through the garage into the basement. When RE85 arrived, the crew stretched an additional hose line thru the garage to the basement where they worked with E18-1 and Womelsdorf Engine 47 personnel to search for the fire.

While crews battled thru high heat and zero visibility in the basement, the fire was found and extinguished in a back corner room of the basement. After an SCBA change, RE85s crew was directed to advance a 3rd line to the 2nd floor where they also operated to assist with ventilation. When tasks were completed, RE85 went to rehab and remained until assisting with demobilization. The unit was released by command and returned.
