The regular Monday night drill on June 9 focused on the use of the Anderson Rescue Strap. These straps have been provided on each of the Department's Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) sets. In addition, several members have purchased their own straps.

The straps are used by personnel to rescue trapped persons, both firefighters and civilians, by providing an easily accessible and deployable harness that makes pulling unresponsive victims to safety. This is of special importance to our members as an Anderson Strap was used in recent rescue of one of our own earlier this year.

Use of the straps will be part of a continuing focus on firefighter rescue this month.
