Before dawn, early Friday morning September 19, TSFRS personnel positioned on the West Wyomissing overpass of Rte 222 northbound to honor the passing of the motorcade escorting three fallen Northern York Co Regional FD officers, enroute to Allentown for postmortem evaluation by the Lehigh County coroner's office. The procession included multiple police motorcycles and vehicles escorting three EMS units bearing the deceased. Rescue Engine 85 and Utility 85 were joined by Western Berks EMS as the procession passed. Emergency services personnel could be seen along the entire route between York and Lehigh Counties.
We were joined by the Wyomissing FD who was set up on the adjacent Jefferson Avenue overpass. Spring Twp Police provided traffic control along the expressway through the Township.
Later that afternoon, TSFRS personnel joined other local responders in similarly honoring the procession returning the heroes home.
