A fire in the oven resulted in the dispatch of a structural fire assignment to the 2800 block of Wilson School Lane in the Berkshire Hills development of the Township just after noontime on Saturday, December 13. In short order Rescue Engine 85 responded and arrived on location with Chief 85 who reported a two-story end-of-row townhouse, with normal conditions and that companies would be initiating recon mode.
Captain 85 quickly determined that the fire involved plastic on the stovetop, already extinguished, with a smoke condition on both floors which would require ventilation. Command directed Western Berks FD Ladder 18 to start ventilation operations and recalled the balance of the assignment. Members also verified that there was no extension. When all actions were complete and air quality was at safe levels, the remaining units were placed available and returned.
