During the week of January 20, TSFRS and mutual aid partners participated in training program to familiarize us with the functions and features of semi-trailers used to haul flammable and combustible liquids., known in the industry as MC306/307 trailers. The training was conducted over several days to allow for viewing opportunities by all career shifts and volunteers.
The training was provided and conducted by Mr. Paul Kilbride, Director of Operations and Safety for BRT Inc, a regional trucking company that specializes in this endeavor. Mr. Kilbride provided classroom training on the design and operations, plus recommendations for tactics to deal with incidents of this nature, including several case studies of recent incidents. He also stationed a tanker trailer in the parking lot for several days for firsthand viewing.
