Around noontime on Wednesday, February 25, TSFRS Engine 85, Wyomissing Ladder 79, Western Berks FD Ladder 18 and Engine 18-1, Shillington Engine 36, Kenhorst Engine 69-1, Mohnton Station 57 as RIT, and Western Berks EMS Medics 6512 and 6511, were dispatched to the 500 block of Berks Place in the Whitfield section of Spring Township for a possible structure fire. Smoke was reported to be coming from a home, with no one home.

E85 and Deputy 85 arrived with nothing evident, and the crew entered investigative mode with DC85 assuming Berks Place Command. Crews observed normal conditions from the exterior and an inspection of the interior from the exterior was clear. Access was made to the inside with no sign of fire or smoke discovered.

As such, the incident was determined to be unfounded and all fire units were released. DC85, the Township Fire Marshal and Twp Police remained to continue the investigation.
