On Saturday February 21, TSFRS personnel attended a Tactical Emergency Casualty Care training class held at our station. The class was intended to prepare emergency responders for operations in multiple casualty incidents that involve simultaneously encountering several victims of violence. This includes triage, the stages of care, medical equipment, common types of wounds, and the assessment protocol for wound treatment.
The types of wounds covered included traumatic injuries from gunshots, blast and bladed weapon impacts. Care included rapid hemorrhage control and support of cardiac and respiratory systems. Realistic simulations were run including simulated wounds.
