Late in the morning of Saturday October 22, TSFR was alerted for a possible structure fire at a meat processing and retail store on Penn Ave in the Springmont section of Spring Township. The initial report was for a smoker burning within 10' of the structure. Accordingly, TSFR and Wyo FD along with our mutual aid partners from Western Berks Fire, Shillington, West Reading ,Kenhorst and Muhlenberg Twp FDs plus Western Berks EMS responded.

A WBEMS medic unit arrived and reported smoke showing from a smoker appliance on a Side D loading dock. TSFR Engine 85 and WFD Ladder 79 were on location shortly thereafter and quickly determined that the fire was contained to the smoker itself, with a minor smoke condition in the shop. L79 established PPV and the assignment was scaled back to E85, L79 and WBFD E18-2.
