On Monday night July13, just as TSFR Engine 85 was wrapping up another call in the Township, a structure fire dispatch was transmitted for an office building in the 1200 block of Broadcasting Road in the Spring Ridge Corporate Center in Spring Township . TSFRS along with our mutual aid partners from Wyomissing (Ladder 79), Western Berks FD (Ladder 18),West Reading (Engine 64), Kenhorst (Engine 69-1), Reading FD (Engine 3), Shillington (Engine 36), Cumru Twp FD (RIT), and Western Berks EMS (Medic 6511) were alerted for a report of smoke on the second floor of the building and that the building had been evacuated.
Upon arrival, E85 took the sprinkler connection and established their own water supply while DC85 established Command. Subsequently arriving L79 laddered the roof area, E3 assisted with water supply, L18 laddered the roof as well, and other companies staged. Capt 85 investigated and confirmed smoke on the second floor while the crew investigated further. L79 found a tripped breaker on rooftop HVAC unit that served the area corresponding initial smoke condition, which had since dissipated naturally. With this info, the assignment was released with the exception of E85.
Command met with the maintenance personnel for the site and turned the scene back over to them.
