A fire in a residential chimney occurred on Friday night Feb. 10 on Sage Drive in the Southern end of Spring Township. TSFR RE85 and TN85, along with Wyo FD L79 and our mutual aid partners from Shillington E36, Western Berks FD E18-2, Mohnton L57, Adamstown Trk 11, Cumru Twp RE42, West Reading R64 and Western Berks EMS M6511 responded. RE85 laid a 400' 5" supply line and and stretched a 200' 2" attack hose and 50' of1 booster attack line. Fireplace contents were removed to the curb and L79 placed its aerial to the roof and accessed the chimney, using dry chemical bombs and chains to extinguish the fire. Positive pressure was then used for smoke removal while both L57 and Tk11 metered the home for CO levels.

E36 secured the supply line to RE85 while E18-2 and RE42 prepared a secondary water supply.

Companies operated on scene for approximately one hour.
