On Saturday night April 1, Wyo FD Ladder 79, TSFR Engine 85, along with our mutual aid partners from the Reading Fire Department (Ladder 1, Engine 3), West Reading (Engine 64), Kenhorst (Engine 69-1), Mt Penn (Utility 1 RIT), and Western Berks EMS (Med 6512 and Med 6511) were dispatched to a residence on Grandview Blvd.in the Wyomissing Hills section of Wyomissing Borough for a structure fire. Communications reported smoke in the garage from a possible vehicle fire.

Personnel from E85 and L79 entered and found a light smoke condition coming from a van parked inside the garage and found a small flaming pile of material inside. The fire was extinguished using a water fire extinguisher. The fire was confined to the pile which was removed, and the back of the vehicle cooled by a hose line from E85. L79 established ventilation while additional crews checked the entire house prior to turning the property over to the occupants.
